LEGO JR. COMPETITION TEAM: TOUGH COOKIE
Our Daisies and Brownies have been working hard for the past couple of weeks on their Waste Wise Lego Jr., competition project. This has been a long process but the girls have finally decided on their project theme! After creating a recycling center for aluminum, Team Tough Cookies took home the award for Complexity and Decoration.
Alvin and the Chipmunks Road Trip
Our troop along with their families went to the Jamaica Multipex Theater and enjoyed a day out! Brownie Lauren, Brownie Savannah, Junior Illan, Junior Arianna and Cadette Cassidy.
It's My Park Day: Alley Pond Park October 24, 2015
The girls volunteered and helped to mulch 87 trees that were planted three years ago.

I Love My Park Day at Idlewild Preserve
On Saturday, May 16, Co-Troop Leader Iris Allen and Cadette Volunteer leader Shamia Burgin joined Troop Girl Scouts Brownie Ilana and Cadette Cassidy and Samantha in mulching over 50 trees that were planted in 2013 at Idlewild Park Preserve. The troop joined others to participate in activities to celebrate It's My Park day. The event was from 9 am to 1 pm. The weather was great and the event was fun for all that attended. Members of the community young and old came out to help.
Corporate Cookie Sale 2015
Our troop was selected to participate in the New York Girl Scout Council Corporate Cookie Sale. We sold 38 cases of cookies, plus an additional 92 boxes for operation cookie. We are so proud of our girls! #girlsrock #girlscouts
Junior Food Drive
On April 12, 2016, the Junior Girl Scouts from Troop #4158 finished their Agents of Change journey by planning and participating in a food drive at the Laurelton Library. They came to a consensus on the plans, created and distributed their own flyers, and used their enthusiasm and cookie charm to encourage community members to donate. The Juniors were able to collect 153 cans, boxes, and bags of food, and received monetary donations totaling $50.00! All of the proceeds were donated to the Jamaica-Queens Wesleyan Church Food Pantry. The girls would like to especially thank all of the girls scouts from their troops #4154, #4156, #4164 who came by to support their cause; the Queens Borough Public Library for providing the location for the event and their assistance in distributing fliers about the event and the community.
Opening Bell at NASDAQ
Our girls had a once in a lifetime opportunity to ring the opening bell at the NASDAQ. They represented the thousands of Girl Scouts around the country in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. They even had a chance to meet our very own Maria Anna Chavez, CEO of Girl Scout USA and receive a one of a kind CEO badge.

Daisy's, Brownie's and Junior's spent the day at St. John's University in Staten Island taking courses all about our favorite cookies....Girl Scout Cookies! Ask any of these graduates how to buy your next box! Cookie Starting December 11, 2015!!

Kwanzaa Celebration Saturday, December 26, 2015
The Springfield Lions Club along with members from our troop presented a Kwanzaa Celebration at the Laurelton Library. About 30 people attended the program. Attendees were treated to arts and craft activities and performances from the reading of a folktale, poetry and two songs from our GS troop. The event ended with the serving of refreshments.
2016 Cookie Sale
We are very proud to announce that our troop has sold over 3,000 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies this year! We would like to thank all who supported us during this sale. We are expecting our cookie delivery in Early March.
Braving the Elements Workshop & Camp Food Tasting
On November 7, 2015, our girls learned the important of being prepared for the appropriate weather when going camping. They also was able to sample some yummy camp foods; hotdogs, walking tacos & s'mores!
First Aid & Fire Safety Training
On Saturday, October 17, 2015 our troop participated in a First Aid and Fire Safety training. Mr. Robert Latezen, Paramedic and teacher at IHPCH, was able to give first hand knowledge about saving lives, stranger danger and when to call 911. We were able to tell safety stories and ask important questions. We ending the training making "mini" first aid kits for our parents to keep in their bags or car.
Girl Scout Night the Brooklyn Nets
On Sunday, November 9, 2014 our girls had the privilege to stand with the Brooklyn Nets as the Star Spangled Banner was being played. It was an amazing opportunity...and of course the Net's beat the Magic that night!
